I am Diego Reyes, a Functional Medicine Practitioner and the founder of Complete Vitality. Over the past several years I have worked with more than five hundred people across the United States and around the world. Most arrived the same way: exhausted, dismissed, and holding a folder of normal lab results that bore no resemblance to how they actually felt. Nearly every one of them was right that something was wrong. It had simply never been looked for in the right place.<\/p>

Where this began<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I grew up in the Midwest, drawn early to discipline and to a single conviction I never questioned: I wanted to help people heal. I assumed that meant becoming a physician, so I followed the conventional path without hesitation.<\/p>

I trained as a Certified Nurse Assistant and worked in nursing homes and clinics, caring for people who could no longer care for themselves. I became a Certified Medication Aide, responsible for administering pharmaceuticals around the clock. I trained within Mayo Clinic Health Systems and saw modern medicine not from a brochure but from the floor, at the bedside, hour after hour.<\/p>

What I saw there reordered my entire understanding of health.<\/strong><\/p>

I watched medication after medication quiet symptoms without ever touching their cause. I watched dependency form where healing was promised. I watched decline get managed with great competence and almost no curiosity, and I watched very few people ask the only question that mattered: why is this happening at all? These were skilled, decent clinicians working faithfully inside a model that was never designed to make anyone well. It was designed to manage disease. Once I understood that distinction, I could not unsee it, and I could not in good conscience remain.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The years that built the work<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

So I went the other way, deliberately and completely.<\/p>

I took over a supplement store as manager and partial owner, and spent my days helping people search for genuine answers instead of more sophisticated cover ups, learning formulation and biochemistry by the daily test of what actually worked. At the same time I coached on the gym floor as a personal trainer, where I learned that the body responds not to information but to discipline applied over time. Some of those clients went on to compete. But aesthetics were never the point for me. I kept returning to one question that the conventional model had no interest in answering: why were so many people doing everything correctly and still ending up sick, tired, inflamed, and lost?<\/p>

That question led me into functional medicine, and I pursued it without reservation. I studied the work of the discipline’s most rigorous thinkers, absorbed the clinical literature, and earned my credentials across functional medicine, clinical nutrition, health coaching, and training. For years I ran the clinical practice and the training floor in parallel, fusing physiology, behavior, and discipline into a single method that people could actually follow and, more importantly, actually benefit from. I worked directly with the hardest cases the standard system tends to abandon: autoimmune disease, complex gut disorders, infertility, hormonal collapse, and metabolic dysfunction that no diet had ever resolved.<\/p>

After thousands of cases, laboratory panels, and hard won breakthroughs, I built the practice I had wished existed for every person I once watched fade inside that nursing home. That practice is Complete Vitality. It was not conceived in a boardroom or borrowed from a franchise. It was built from the ground up for the people who are doing everything right and still sense that something is wrong, and for the men and women who appear perfectly healthy and yet feel like strangers inside their own bodies.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

What I believe about chronic illness<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

I do not regard most chronic illness as mysterious. I regard it as multifactorial, which is an entirely different proposition. The symptoms that slowly dismantle a person’s life, the fatigue that sleep does not repair, the weight that will not move, the inflammation, the hormonal disorder, the digestive disease, are rarely the illness itself. They are the visible output of systems that have drifted out of balance beneath the surface and begun to pull one another down.<\/p>

Conventional medicine, for all its genuine command of surgery, emergency care, and acute crisis, was never engineered to investigate that kind of slow, interdependent dysfunction. It is built to identify a named disease and to treat it. When there is no disease to name yet, only a person who is unwell, the system falls silent. Most of what makes my work effective never appears on a credential line. It is the years inside the clinical literature, the thousands of hours spent interpreting laboratory data, and the refusal to reach for a protocol before I understand the mechanism underneath a case.<\/p>

I have developed and refined my own clinical frameworks for the conditions I treat most often: autoimmune disease, PCOS, IBS and IBD, hormonal and metabolic disorder, the perimenopausal and menopausal transition, and the weight resistance that conventional advice never resolves. Each is constructed the same way, reasoned upward from physiology, so that the strategy a person receives is derived rather than borrowed. That is the difference between a practitioner who manages you indefinitely and one who genuinely understands what is happening inside you.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

My education spans the disciplines that chronic illness actually demands, because no single field is sufficient on its own.<\/p>

I am credentialed as a Functional Medicine Practitioner and a Functional Health Practitioner, the foundation of how I investigate and resolve complex disease. My grounding in clinical nutrition allows me to use food as a precise clinical instrument rather than a vague recommendation. As a Functional Health Coach, I am trained to convert a plan into sustained behavior, which is precisely where most care quietly fails. And as a Certified Personal Trainer, I understand movement, muscle, and metabolism well enough to prescribe exercise as medicine, calibrated to a person’s physiology rather than dispensed as generic advice.<\/p>

Together, these disciplines allow me to do what most providers structurally cannot: see the entire system at once, and intervene across all of it within a single coherent strategy. I consider these credentials the floor, not the achievement. The achievement is the work itself, and it is what I am known for.<\/p>

Where a strategy calls for prescription therapy, such as hormone optimization, TRT, or specific peptides, I work alongside a network of licensed physicians who prescribe and monitor across all fifty states and Puerto Rico. I lead the investigation and design the strategy; they hold the prescribing authority, so that every element of your care meets the standard it deserves.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

My practice is nationwide, international, and deliberately personal. I work with women navigating perimenopause, hormonal disorder, and weight that no longer answers to effort. I work with people whose autoimmune disease, PCOS, or digestive illness has been managed for years and never once understood. I work with men reclaiming energy, drive, and recovery. And I work with people who are already well and simply refuse to accept that decline is the natural price of age.<\/p>

My commitment is straightforward to state and difficult to find elsewhere. I will tell you the truth, including when the truth is that your case is complex and the work will require real time. I do not promise guaranteed outcomes, because durable physiology does not yield to promises, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something. What I offer is rigor, honesty, and a depth of attention most people have never received from any provider.<\/p>

This was never simply a business to me. It is the answer to a question I have been pursuing since I stood in that nursing home wondering why no one was actually getting better.
