{"id":7519,"date":"2025-12-07T17:05:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-07T17:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/exclusivesamplewebsites.com\/michaelneemft\/?p=7519"},"modified":"2025-12-07T18:04:56","modified_gmt":"2025-12-07T18:04:56","slug":"communication-disorders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exclusivesamplewebsites.com\/michaelneemft\/communication-disorders\/","title":{"rendered":"Communication Disorders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A controversial theoretical discourse focuses on a \u201creturn to Freud\u201d by way of <strong>linguistics<\/strong> and <strong>cultural anthropology<\/strong>, so this next section has me excited to share more about communication disorders! \u00a0Given the length is a little beyond what web designer prefer, this will be in two parts this month, with Part 1 immediately below.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"18.72\" data-lineheight=\"normal\"><strong>Part 1:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Many of us take for granted our capacity to learn language, speak with friends and family, or communicate more generally through talking, listening, body language; in-person, via text or type; multiple devices for ease of use and convenience when not in the same place at the same time.\u00a0 What if shortfalls in capacity are indicated by standardized tests by which <a href=\"https:\/\/michaelneemft.com\/family-therapist-services-in-marina-del-rey\/\">professionals<\/a> may compare an individual\u2019s abilities with the cultural averages?\u00a0 What if one or more of the options typically available are troublesome for a person?\u00a0 It may mean there is a communication disorder present.\u00a0 The diagnostics under <em>Communication Disorders<\/em> include \u201clanguage disorder, speech sound disorder, childhood-onset fluency disorder (stuttering), social (pragmatic) communication disorder, and other <strong>specified and unspecified communication disorders<\/strong>\u201d (p. 41).<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"18.72\" data-lineheight=\"normal\"><strong>Part 2:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The diagnosis of a Language Disorder\u00a0 (Code 315.39; ICD F80.9) is utilized when difficulties in the language acquisition or ongoing use of language proves problematic.\u00a0 This includes written, spoken, sign language, or other modality.\u00a0 Issues may include limits in knowledge or use of vocabulary that does not meet the standards of a particular age; limitations in the individual\u2019s capacity to form sentences according to grammatical rules; or \u201cimpairments in discourse,\u201d which means how the lexicon and placement of words together connect or do not connect to a topic or series of topics within a conversation.\u00a0 The issues may simply be normal for a child\u2019s age or within the context of learning a second language \u2013 as either child or adult.\u00a0 When this is not the case, issues negatively impact the person\u2019s ability and capacity to meet standardized expectations.<\/p>\n<p>Onset of symptoms are typically within the earlier developmental <a href=\"https:\/\/michaelneemft.com\/childhood-onset-fluency-disorder\/\">stages of childhood<\/a>. The issues should not be due to another impairment, disability, disorder that would better explain the condition.<\/p>\n<p>The differential diagnostics for Language Disorder include <a href=\"https:\/\/michaelneemft.com\/global-developmental-delay-and-unspecified-intellectual-disability\/\">intellectual disability<\/a>; neurological disorders; autism spectrum disorder or other neurological syndrome; hearing loss or other sensory impairment.\u00a0 The risk factors increase if there is a familial history of language impairment (p. 43).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A controversial theoretical discourse focuses on a \u201creturn to Freud\u201d by way of linguistics and cultural anthropology, so this next section has me excited to share more about communication disorders! \u00a0Given the length is a little beyond what web designer prefer, this will be in two parts this month, with Part 1 immediately below.
